My Web Builder Package Blunders

I had just completed university extension courses in using HTML, CGI programming and Javascript for creating web pages, and knew how to use all the bells and whistles when I started my web site design.

I didn't need any of it! You can use my free course on HTML coding at html1.php to learn all you need for the technical side of good web site design.

There was a package deal for web site design and building available from SBI for about three hundred dollars that would do absolutely everything for me (brainstorming the best subject for my website, choosing the domain name, registering the domain, web hosting - yes being my web host is part of the package - creating the title page, web site design for the rest, analysing web pages for search engine optimization, and submitting to the search engines when they were satisfactory, keeping track of all the important search engines, preparing records of all the visitors to my pages, autoresponders, forums, and hundreds of pages about how to do everything, and that is just for a start!) but why would an HTML expert like me get someone else to help my web site design?! I would design a sooper-dooper website for myself using their free book and save all my money!

I should have realised! The free book was over 100 pages and only mentioned HTML in passing. If there was so much more to good web site design than HTML coding I should have looked before I leapt!

My pride was about to take a great fall.

Soon I was buying domain name registration, web hosting, Search Engine Optimisation software, stealth software, autoresponder software, newsletter software, and software to display the performance of my site. It seemed to be never-ending. I could never afford all the software that I wanted.

A year later I found that I had spent $2000 on my own web site design and got one visitor per day on a good day.

At that time I bought the web site design package for about $300 (from
http:// sitebuildit.sitesell.com/buildwebprofit.html and created another website. In a few months I was getting over 3000 visitors per month, which is about a hundred times as good as my own web site design without the help of the package.

Is HTML useless for profit?

By no means. Even though the cheap package converts all your text into HTML for you, (you don't need to know HTML) for your web site design there are times when you might want to step in and change something. For instance the colour of a sub-heading, the appearance of a form, or a table. So you should still do my free HTML course.

There is one important thing you will have to do if you want your web site design to have an automatic sales page. When it sends you to the download page, you don't want the search engines to find the download page! My HTML course will show you how to deal with that problem. You can then upload your own HTML code to the cheap package.

There is an enormous section in the package about how to monetize your web site design. Even if you are an expert marketer there are probably some techniques that you have never thought of. That means that you don't need to worry about shopping carts to make money easily. You can use their advanced package for shopping carts. But suck all the juice out of the simple monetization plans before you get involved with all that credit card stuff.

Now your problems in web site design are different from everybody else's. How can you get treated like an individual? Simple, write down what is special about your own business. Then use what you have written down to get free expert help for deciding what is best for your web site design.
