Is CJ Right For Online Project Research?

Online project research used to turn to Commission Junction as an essential part of the process to investigate Physical products. Just as eBay specializes in physical products, and Clickbank only has digital products, CJ was where you went for physical affiliate products.

Many years ago when I discovered Commission Junction they were a very useful company indeed. Then they changed their name to CJ. They used to care about their customers, but gradually over the years they became so big that they no longer care. It is now nearly as difficult to get information out of them as it is from Microsoft.

If you want to skip this step and go on to the next one, you probably won't miss much!

For completeness your marketing research should obviously spend at least some time studying physical products, but you have already researched them at eBay. You can also find some possibilities at paydotcom.com which has some physical products too.

I finally worked out what EPC stands for, after I had finished puzzling over it in the video. The three month EPC means that over the last three months the average earning per click was one hundredth of the value shown. So change all dollar values to cents to get the earnings per click.

Remember, that EPC is not what you will get. If you are unenthusiastic in your description you will make no sales and get nothing. If you turn your visitor over to CJ hot and eager to buy, you will get a better EPC than the average.

Why I don't like CJ any more

The example that I gave in the video is a perfect demonstration of the futility of the search. You get a thousand links when you search on digital camera that have nothing whatsoever to do with the subject.

About a year ago I searched on web hosting, and got many pages of links. A week later I did the same search again, and there were no sites listed at all. After spending more than an hour trying different keywords, I found three quarters of a page of listings. The businesses were still there (I could find them by searching on the business name) but I couldn't find them with the obvious keywords.

If you are looking for an internet business opportunity related to cameras, and the search function only shows you cheap duplicating paper, discount coupons, and so on, you need to find a different search tool!

Making money on the internetmarketing research is definitely possible, but how can you find it if it is filed under history of digital projects? I'm only including this online project research method for completeness. Next we'll move on to keyword research tools.
