Researching your website design saves or loses you thousands

Don't waste your time on business market research if you don't want to make money from your web site. Why should a church website or other non-profit organization care about business research? This is the most important part of the whole process. You can delegate everything else, but you can't delegate until you know what you need.

On the other hand, if you want to make money from home online, you really want to do enough new market research to be able to create a business plan, that has some chance of bringing in a profit.

Don't be frightened by the sound of online research. I know it sounds expensive and difficult. Well that would be true for offline research, but the internet has changed everything.

First Step

Think what keywords people would use to find a product. Search for them on Google. If there are millions of sites found for each keyword, it means that there must be many people interested in the subject.

Does that mean it will be a profitable theme? Whoah! No it doesn't, because you don't know why people are visiting these sites, or even if they are visiting them.

So is this the end of your fact finding efforts? Unfortunately not. You still don't know if anybody will buy what you have to offer.

The big difference with eBay research, is that the visitors to eBay have money in their pockets looking for something to buy. That's the big difference from Wordtracker.

As a beginner you should pick a subject that you know a lot about, and preferably one that you like. It doesn't matter if eBay is selling golf memorabilia as fast as it becomes available if the subject bores you to tears. I'm sure you can find something of interest. My problem is that there is too much that interests me!
